Description

Every vine needs a trellis, and every Christian home could use a reminder of who holds it up. Cloister Trellis takes its name from the covered walks of old monasteries, where pattern and prayer lived side by side. A fine diamond lattice runs across the wall, with a slender cross at every crossing and a small dot resting in the heart of each diamond.

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.” John 15:5

From across the room it reads as a classic trellis. Up close, it is a wall full of crosses. Eleven colorways take it from soft stone and sage to bold navy and gold, so it can be a quiet backdrop or a confident statement in a Christian home.

How many rolls or panels do I need?

  1. Measure the height from floor to ceiling in two or three places (walls and ceilings are rarely perfectly level) and use the largest figure.
  2. Add up the width of every wall you plan to cover. Include doors and windows; don't subtract them, and ignore baseboards and crown molding.
  3. Enter your width and height in the calculator. For paste the wall it works out how many 26 in strips you need, adds a small trim allowance and fits as many strips as it can on each roll. For peel and stick it counts one panel for every 26 in of wall and picks the panel length for your height.
  4. Paste the wall comes on a 27 ft roll. Peel and stick is sold by the panel, one per 26 in of wall: choose a 9 ft or 12 ft panel to suit your wall height. The calculator shows both.
  5. Order everything together. Every roll and panel in one order is printed in the same run, so the colors match. A later order is a separate run and can vary very slightly.
  6. Not sure? Order a sample first and tape it to the wall for a day or two to see color, scale and finish in your own light.

Paste the wall

  1. Start with a clean, smooth, primed wall. Fill and sand any holes or bumps and let everything dry.
  2. Mark a plumb (vertical) line for your first strip, so the pattern stays straight.
  3. Apply wallpaper paste to the wall, slightly wider than the strip, then hang it from the top, leaving about 2 in to trim at the ceiling.
  4. Smooth from the center outwards with a wallpaper smoother. Butt the next strip against the first: the match is straight, so there is no overlap.
  5. Trim at the ceiling and baseboard with a sharp blade and wipe away any paste from the surface straight away.

Peel and stick

  1. Start with a clean, dry, smooth, painted wall. Heavily textured or porous walls can stop it sticking fully, so test a sample first.
  2. Mark a plumb (vertical) line for your first panel. Every panel starts at the top of the pattern, so all panels line up.
  3. Peel back a few inches of the backing, press the top of the panel to the wall with about 2 in to trim at the ceiling, then peel and smooth down as you go.
  4. Lift and reposition if you need to: peel and stick is removable and repositionable. Smooth out any bubbles with a squeegee.
  5. Place the next panel edge to edge (or overlap the seam slightly if you prefer) and trim at the ceiling and baseboard with a sharp blade.

Care

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. For a mark, dab with a slightly damp sponge and a little mild soap, then pat dry. Do not scrub, soak or use abrasive or solvent cleaners.

Peel and stick comes off by peeling it slowly back on itself. Paste the wall is a permanent finish for walls you will not change often.
